Abstract/Summary

A heritage impact assessment was undertaken in July 2016 in advance of a residential development on land at Holmes Chapel Road, Middlewich, Cheshire. The report assesses the potential impact of the proposed development on known heritage assets within the site and designated assets immediately adjacent to the Site. Research (see Desk-based assessment, ECH6543) for the heritage impact assessment indicates that the proposed development has the potential to impact on two designated heritage assets: the Kinderton Hall Scheduled Monument and the Kinderton Hall Grade II* listed building; and three non-designated heritage assets: possible ring ditches; a small cluster of Roman finds; and a hedgerow that is classed as being ‘important’ under the Hedgerow Regulations. The heritage impact assessment identifies the potential effects of the proposed development on these heritage assets. The significance of the impacts is then assessed in relation to local, regional and national policy frameworks, and appropriate mitigation measures are recommended.
