Abstract/Summary

Archaeological watching brief undertaken during groundworks associated with the erection of an extension to a farm building, Maltkin Barn, at The Maltings, Maltkin Farm, Woore Road, Buerton (SJ 6841 4335). Maltkin Barn is a Grade II Listed building of early nineteenth century date and represents the surviving portion of a once larger malting. Consequently, it was anticipated that the groundworks of the extension would impact on any below-ground remains associated with the earlier building. The heavily disturbed remains of the foundations of the earlier building were revealed, along with associated drainage features. Additionally, an earlier ditch, or cut feature, of post medieval date was recorded.
