Abstract/Summary

A desk-based assessment and heritage statement was undertaken in November 2017 for an area of circa 12.5 hectares at Huntington, centred at SJ 41520 63764, prior to the proposed erection of solar photovoltaic panels and associated works No nationally designated sites lie within the vicinity of the study site, however, it does lie circa 80m to the north of Huntington Hall scheduled moated site, circa 270m east of Heronbridge scheduled Roman site and circa 850m north-east of the Old Rectory scheduled monument of a motte and associated earthworks. Additionally, Eaton Hall Grade II* listed registered park and garden lies some 700m to the west of the study site, and Grade II listed buildings of Meadowhouse Farmhouse and barn are located some 166m to the east of the site. Some finds have been recovered from within the site and close to it, including a Roman lead die and two Roman coins, an undated Bronze scraper, and a post medieval lead figurine from a tobacco lid and a post medieval coin.
