Abstract/Summary

Environmental statement produced in May 2017 as part of a continuing programme of assessment for land at Wrexham Road in advance of residential development. Chapter J of the statement describes the baseline conditions and potential effects of the development in terms of archaeological and heritage assets. The assessment has been informed by desk-based assessment (ECH6402), geophysical survey (ECH6394) and trial trenching (ECH6400). It was concluded that the development of the site would little have little impact on surrounding sites, with exception to a scheduled moated site which lies within the southern, central area. The implementation of an area of setback surrounding the moat will preserve the sub-surface and earthwork remains of this monument. A management plan during the operational stages of the development was also deemed necessary to safe-guard the moat.
