Abstract/Summary

A watching brief was undertaken in 2016 during the installation of fence posts within the scheduled area at Norton Priory. An area spanning 20 x 20m was investigated, with a total of 32 holes being excavated. No significant archaeological deposits were encountered. Six post-holes yielded some finds, all of which came from the same layer; these were largely modern or post-medieval in date, although several pieces were ambiguous; one find in particular (the pottery fragment from PH30) could be earlier.
