Abstract/Summary

Report of an archaeological watching brief undertaken in 2016 within the grounds of Norton Priory to monitor the installation of interpretation panels as part of a wider scheme of work within the scheduled area. Three plinths were installed, each requiring two rectangular slots to be excavated, measuring 20cm long, 10cm wide, and about 12.5cm deep. The three areas were located just north of the ruins, the east edge of the ruins and at the corner of the herb garden just south of the monastic complex. All three had identical stratigraphic compositions, owing largely to their rather extreme shallowness, no archaeological remains were encountered.
