Source/Archive record SCH7971 - Land at Lymm Hall, Rectory Lane, Lymm: Archaeological Strip, Map and Record Investigation 2015

In 2015 The Centre of Archaeology was commissioned to undertake a strip, map and record assessment ahead of a residential development at Lymm Hall, Rectory Lane, Lymm. This occurred between the 16th and 18th December 2015. The evaluation found that the area contained a series of features and deposits dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Features recorded included land drainage, trackway fence lines, buried fuel storage and domestic pet burials. The absence of any features or artefacts predating these periods suggests that this area has remained undeveloped and was probably an open agricultural area away form the medieval settlement of Lymm and Lymm Hall. A large amount of landscaping appears to have taken place in the late 19th century to early 20th century, probably around the same time as the construction of the stable/laundry block of the hall.
