Abstract/Summary

A metal detecting survey was undertaken in May 2015 at land off Beehive Lane, Moulton in response to a planning application granted for the development of the site. 323 artefacts were recovered and the location of each of these was recorded by Trimble Ranger GPS. One possible Roman artefact (lead weight) and four potential Medieval artefacts were found (an annular buckle, a buckle/broach pin, a decorated lead fragment and a barrel weight. The remaining artefacts were Post Medieval or Modern and were the result of casual loss or related to land use, such as bridal parts associated with horse riding. No areas of potential significant buried archaeological remains were identified.
