Abstract/Summary
Report detailing results of archaeological survey work done in July 2013 at Hallows Drive, Kelsall, by L-P Archaeology in advance of development of the site for residential purposes. Work undertaken comprised geophysical, metal-detecting and topographic surveys.
The geophysical survey identified several linear features that were almost certainly modern. The topographic survey was targeted at identifying any raised areas that could potentially be the site of lithic scatters, no areas of interest were recorded. However, the metal-detecting survey did retrieve 38 objects; these were mostly Post Medieval or modern in date, although two possible Medieval buckles were found, also a Roman coin and a Medieval spindle whorl. This assemblage is typical of casual loss and indicates that the site was probably open land from the Roman period onwards.
