Abstract/Summary
Archaeological watching brief carried by L-P Archaeology out on land off Douglas Close, Hartford, Cheshire. The work was implemented as part of the planning process in advance of residential development of the site and follows on from a desk-based assessment (ECH5305) and metal detector survey (ECH5381).
The watching brief revealed an homogenous stratigraphy of a loam topsoil and sand subsoils over the natural clay which was encountered at a depth of 0.45m-0.5m below ground level. Evidence of construction actrivity for the housing development to the north was exposed in one area producing a range of Post Medieval ceramics and glass artefacts.
