Abstract/Summary
Between April and May 2015 Wardell Armstrong Archaeology undertook a geophysical survey of land at the former Albion Works, Sandbach, to provide Taylor Wimpey North West archaeological information relating to a new development at the site. The survey area comprised two fields south of Yew Tree Farm, a total of 7.7 hectares in total, centred at SJ 7330 6267. The vast majority of the geophysical anomalies detected at the site are believed to be agricultural in origin, including an extensive network of land drains, a post medieval field boundary and possible evidence for former ridge and furrow. The results suggest that the land has not been intensively occupied in the past other than for agricultural purposes.
