The following report details proposed work, archaeological impact assessment and recommendations for Chimney 2 of the Lion Salt Works, Marston, Northwich, Cheshire West and Chester. The development scheme covers an area that includes the whole of the scheduled monument with the exception of the Coronation Salt Store and an area outside of the monument. Approximately two thirds forms part of Scheduled Monument (Scheduled Monument No 34985). The remainder of the site lies outside the area of the monument but is to be considered to form part of the contiguous monument. As the majority of the site lies within a Scheduled Monument the site as a whole should be considered nationally significant.
