Abstract/Summary
Excavations at Chester Business Park in 2003 revealed a small Roman road, an adjacent field system and early roman buildings or structures. Three wells or water-holes were also hound, two of which contained timbers. One of these wells was dated to the iron age, suggesting that the road and field system also had pre-Roman origins. Finds from the site date largely to the first or second centuries, although some pre-Roman and later Roman pottery was also recovered. Other finds included ceramic building material, quern stones, a glass bead and an inscribed slate.
