Abstract/Summary
This report was commissioned by Cheshire West and Cheshire Council to record a Railway Emergency Control Room located at NGR: SJ 41388 66872 to English Heritage building recording Level 2 / 3 criteria as published in Understanding Historic Buildings (2006) – pages 13–14 refer. The survey work was carried out on 16 December 2013 and 13 January 2014. This is a follow-on report from one compiled by Donald Insall Associates which is a desk-based analysis of what is preserved on the control room within publically accessible archives. The building is derelict; there is no electricity and had to be artificially lit with torches and flash photography. The report includes photographs of the demolition of the building.
This report is based on primary sources preserved at the National Archives (TNA), Kew as well as contemporary secondary sources retained at the Airfield Research Group’s archives at Alconbury airfield.
