Source/Archive record SCH7209 - Archaeological Watching Brief Report for Land at Butley Hall

The watching brief monitored ground works at the northern and southern ends of the hall and clearance of an area the east of the hall. Nothing of significance was noted. NB the description of which areas were monitored is confused and is difficult to reconcile with the photographs and the plans. The report should probably have been sent back for amendment but it is clear that nothing of interest was present and a tactical decision was made not to pursue the matter in view of the fact that a replacement report was unlikely to be forthcoming within a reasonable timescale.
