Abstract/Summary
The survey found no evidence for anything earlier than the first half of the 19th century, which was reprsented by the core of the building and its brick vaultred cellars. Any earlier structure on the site appears to have been entirely swept away by this phase of building. Thorough inspection of the building was made difficult by extensive vanadalism, fire damage, and the gernally unsafe nature of the building which restricted access to many areas. Evidence for numerous later extensions and alterations to the original core was noted.
