Description
A watching brief was maintained during construction of an extension to the pool in order to ascertain the depth of modern disturbance in this part of the town. As expected, made ground extended to c 1.75m below modern ground level and no waterlogging was encountered. The contractors consider that any archaeological deposits will have been truncated but elsewhere in Snowhill archaeology has been encountered at depths of up to 4m so survival of remains at depths in excess of 2m cannot be ruled out.
