Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken on an area of land off Lester's Lane Cheshire during the groundworks and preparation for the installation of an exploratory gas drilling rig. The development area crossed a historic township boundary and the watching brief was to attempt to ascertain the nature of the boundary. A shallow linear feature was recorded in an area of natural exposed at the southern end of the site, this was problematic to interpret, although it may represent the remains of a boundary that may have been marked by a hedge line rather than a ditch. No other features were observed but an assemblage of post-medieval pottery was retrieved which included a fragment of Westerwald stoneware.
