Abstract/Summary
Building recording and a watching brief were undertaken prior to, and during, the consolidation of the remains of the medieval Wervin Chapel, which originated as a chapel-of-ease to St Werburgh’s Church in Chester. The chapel survived the Dissolution, but became disused in about 1700, and thereafter fell into a ruinous state. By the time of the survey, only a small part of the east and north elevations could be seen. The building was recorded in plan and by photographs, and the watching brief revealed additional fabric.
