| Title | Fiddler's Ferry to Frodsham (4ZF) OHL, Phase 1, Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Desk Based Assessment |
| Author/Originator | AMEC |
| Report Number | R3027 |
| Date/Year | 2010 |
Abstract/Summary
AMEC were commissioned by Electricity Alliance West (EAW) in November 2009 to undertake a Level 1 archaeological assessment incorporating an Archaeological Desk-Based Assessment (DBA) and targeted Field Reconnaissance Survey (FRS). The initial final report encompassed the archaeological DBA, while the FRS was undertaken at a later stage. Therefore, this report incorporates the results of the archaeological DBA and FRS for the Fiddlers Ferry to Frodsham section of the 4ZF route, towers 4ZF027 to 4ZF054, as a full archaeological assessment.
This work was undertaken to inform appropriate mitigation of impacts on archaeology and cultural heritage assets associated with proposed line refurbishment works to the aforementioned Overhead Electricity Line (the National Grid ‘4ZF’ transmission line).
The assessment has established that there are sensitive archaeological remains at eight of the 28 towers on the 4ZF transmission line that have the potential to be impacted upon by the proposed refurbishment works.
