Abstract/Summary
A programme of archaeological works has been underway intermittently since 1999 at various sites collectively known as Tower Wharf. These sites comprise a former canal basin and wharfage known as the North Basin, a canal side building known as Dandy's Shed, and a boat yard on the opposite side of the canal known as Taylor's Yard. Evaluation, excavation, building recording, survey and a watching brief have all been undertaken on these sites in advance of various excavation, demolition and construction works at the request of Katie Sully of British Waterways. The method of fieldwork depended upon the element of the project being undertaken.
