Abstract/Summary

An archaeological field survey was undertaken in 2003 at Common Barn Farm, as part of The Peak District Environmental Quality Mark Scheme. The survey area comprised two large holdings and one small holding to the east and south-east of Rainow. The features identified through the survey were sketch-plotted at 1:2500. An extensive archive search was not undertaken. The Common Barn Farm complex, comprising farmhouse, outbuildings and water troughs, is of eighteenth or nineteenth century date. It is recorded on the Tithe Map of 1840.
