Abstract/Summary

Examination of the available data indicates that the site does not contain any known archaeological deposits of national importance or any Scheduled Monuments on or near the study site. The sources consulted indicate that there is no evidence to suggest potential for significant prehistoric remains being present on teh site. Archaeological evidence suggests there is a high potential for remains dating form the Roman period, due to the site's location near top the main routeway out of the fortress of Deva. Documetary and cartographic evidence suggests that the site has agricultural land since the early medieval period and continued as such through to the post-war period. The standing building on site dates from 1948 and has been subject to some alterations. The construction process will have destroyed many of the archaeological deposits within the building footprint.
