Abstract/Summary

Report detailing an archaeological survey of fields to the northeast and southwest of Leighton Hall Farm involved the ploting of features visible on air photographs and as earthworks on the ground. The earliest phase of activity is low relief ridge and furrow in part of the southern fields, with a trackway and ditched field boundary superimposed across this at a later date. A lynchet lies on the same alignement as the ridge and furrow but is undated. A small circular feature to which the trackway led was discovered next to a spring immediately southwest of Leighton Hall Farm, and building debris and a pond was found at the southern end of the survey area. A rectangular ditched field to the north of the farm might represent the remains of a moated platform, and a possible pond is visible at its eastern end.
