| Author/Originator | AAA Archaeological Advisors |
| Report Number | R2622 |
| Date/Year | 2006 |
Abstract/Summary
The watching brief at leighton Hall Farm was conducted by AAA over 4 days in July 2006. Extensive excavations of services and drainage trenches over the entire development site turned up potery sherds from a period 1870-1930, no fragments of clay tobacco pipes and no further evidence of domestic occupation.
The archaeologist concludes that the site was developed c.1870 by the Mostyn Estate as a 19th century 'state of the art' model farm, and that the yard area, largely cobbled, was kept clear of domestic refuse. The 17th century listed barn building appears not to have been inhabites on a regular basis.
