Abstract/Summary
An archaeological excavation was undertaken at 26-34 Bridge Street, Warrington. The excavation consisted of two trenches 11 x 25m and 20 x 6m, excavated at the western and eastern limits of the redevelopment area. Although the site had been heavily truncated by development during the twentieth century, and the stratigraphy was relatively shallow (< 1m below contemporary street level), significant archaeological remains were recorded. The preservation of environmental remains was very poor, and potential generally low. Animal bone did not survive in deposits earlier than the post medieval period.
