Abstract/Summary
Archaeological desk-based assessment and watching brief undertaken in 1992 in relation to the laying of a new water main in the parish of Tattenahall, Cheshire. This involved the replacement of a 300mm water main over a distance of circa 760m. The pipe runs about 8-10m from the eastern edge of Back Lane beween three pump houses. The watching brief confirmed that the landscape appears to have been little used before the early 19th century and its enclosure.
