Abstract/Summary
The construction of a 68km Transco pipeline from Audley, Cheshire, to Alrewas, Staffordshire provided the opportunity to investigate a corridor of land through the counties of Shropshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire, revealing evidence of prehistoric, Roman, medieval and post medieval activity. Pre-construction survey in 1997 and 1998 highlighted areas of archaeological potential along the route. During the construction phase, a watching brief was undertaken between April and August 1998.
