Abstract/Summary
Archaeological evaluation undertaken in October 1989 at Old Hall Farm, Little Stanney, to assess the depth, extent and survival of archaeological deposits on the north side of the presumed moat of Stanney Old Hall prior to a landscaping scheme. The excavations revealed no evidence of a moat and the only deposits encountered related to the levelling and construction of the 19th century farm outbuildings. A survey of the surrounding earthworks was undertaken by the RCHME and is included in the report.
