Abstract/Summary
Documentary research and topographical survey of the Priesty fields area, on the outskirts of Congleton, where four Tudor/Stuart coin hoards, each in a pottery vessel, were found by metal detectors in April and May 1992. The field survey recorded a precise location for each of the hoards and also depicted nearby relict features such as trackways, field boundaries and earthworks. One of the aims of the documentary research was to identify landholdings in the area in the latter half of the 17th century and early part of the 18th century when the coin hoards were deposited.
