Abstract/Summary
Archaeological desk-based assessment and walk-over field survey undertaken in 1995 in advance of a proposed golf course at Knight's Grange, Winsford. The site straddles lands formerly belonging to Vale Royal Abbey and Beaurepair or Knight's Grange in its eastern part, and common and arable lands in its western part. Much of this landscape is medieval or early post medieval in origin and the major landholding divisions between these different land regimes survive as lanes, footpaths, wooded areas and mature field boundaries, or can be reconstructed from cartographic and aerial photographic evidence.
