Abstract/Summary
Archaeological watching brief undertaken in 1995 at Royal Court, Knutsford. No evidence of archaeological activity was recorded prior to the nineteenth century. This implies that this part of Knutsford lay outside the confines onf the medieval and modern town. The reason for this is probably that the Royal Court development lies on the edge of a sharp escarpment, circa 5m high, which defines the rear of the properties along the western side of King Street.
