Abstract/Summary
Archaeological desk-based survey for land between Chester Road and Forest Road, Sandiway in advance of development. The area has been utilised as pasture land since at least the late eighteenth century. Prior to that date there is no evidence of construction on the site from any period and the land was most likely given over to pastoral use after deforestation in the late eighteenth century. Two Roman roads pass immediately to the south and west of the proposed development area and therefore there could be potential for Roman roadside activity, although the survival of any remains could be impacted by later agricultural practices, eg: ploughing.
