Full Description
A deer park was intended at Saighton. The Abbot of St Werburgh has in the reign of Henry III obtained a charter of free warren in Saighton, Huntington and Cheveley. From Richard II, he obtained licence to fortify his manor house of Saighton. Finally from Henry VIII he had licence to make a park of 1000 acres, but it came too late for "this project was most probably put a stop to by the Reformation" (1).
