Monument record 4069/0/2 - Road Block at Mickley Bridge
Please read our guidance about the use of Cheshire Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
This is a road block comprised of two rows of three concrete blocks to support poles/posts. Roadblocks were usually a combination of moveable and stationary objects, either on or built into roads and bridges, that could be used to stop or divert any enemy vehicles. They often incorporated steel bars, concrete blocks and barbed wire. The holes in the ground (presumably to hold poles) were eathenware drain sections. It is on a bridge across the Shropshire Union Canal.
