Please read our guidance about the use of Cheshire Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
These are concrete blocks built into the road surface to take steel girders, creating a road block across the road. Roadblocks were usually a combination of moveable and stationary objects, either on or built into roads and bridges, that could be used to stop or divert any enemy vehicles. They often incorporated steel bars, concrete blocks and barbed wire. These are on the east side of bridge 83 over the Shropshire union canal.
