The rectilinear ditched enclosure, potentially a poorly preserved medieval moated site, is visible as an earthwork to the north of Wetreins Farm on historic aerial photography and lidar imagery and was mapped as part of the Cheshire National Mapping Programme project. The moat appears to remain extant on the latest 2010 vertical photography (see 6).

The moat takes the form of a shallow and irregular rectilinear ditch, broader on the northern arm and with internal dimensions of approximately 80 x 55m, enclosing an area of around 0.41 hectares. The interior appears to contain a block of later medieval / post medieval ridge and furrow ploughing (UID 1606965) and the moat is surrounded by similar ridge and furrow to west, north and east (6-8).
