Summary

A carved stone figure is recorded on a building in Great Boughton, described in 1991 as being on the wall of the Midland Bank opposite the mini roundabout on Tarvin Road. A stone figure carved into the wall of a building opposite the mini-roundabout on Tarvin Road. It is thought to be 17th century by its style. There is other irregular stone work in the fabric of this building. It would seem to belong to a large group of stone heads from Britain which on stylistic grounds are termed 'Celtic', but which show continuity into the Post Medieval period.

Full Description

A stone figure carved into wall of building opposite the mini-roundabout, Tarvin Road. It is thought to be 17th century by its style and seems to be older than the building. It is carved into a rectangular shaped block approximately 8 inches by 4 inches. There is other irregular stone work in the fabric of this building (1). It would seem to belong to a large group of stone heads from Britain which on stylistic grounds are termed 'Celtic', but which show continuity into the Post Medieval period.
