Full Description
Shippon 25m north-west of Leadgate Farmhouse, Leadgate Lane. Formerly barn, now shippon and hayloft. Early C17 but extensively altered and rebuilt in early C18, early C20 outshut. Upper storey timber-framed with brick nogging, remainder English bond orange brick. Tile roof. Long, rectangular plan with outshut. Upper storey is 28 x 2 regular small frames with tension braces. Some panels are open as pitchholes. Gable ends have brick bands at first floor. Interior: Much altered to a parallel line of stalls. Roof trusses partially survive and show tiebeams, collars and Queen posts. Full architectural description (1).
