Full Description
Stone head over doorway of ‘Merridene’ Cottage, Great Budworth. Close to the spring near the A559. It is well worked, possibly of an ecclesiastical nature. Thought to be Medieval in date (1). It belongs to a large group of stone heads from Britain which on stylistic grounds are termed 'Celtic', but which show continuity into the Post Medieval period.
