According to the AELPA (Alderley Edge Landscape Project Archive), she worked as a servant at Fallows Hall, committing suicide in the later half of the 18th century after being spurned in love. A stone supposedly marks the site of her grave; it may have been moved from the field boundary.

Unmarked grave of Ellen Beck. According to the A.E.L.P.A (1), she worked as a servant at Fallows Hall, committing suicide in the later half of the 18th century after being spurned in love. A stone supposedly marks the site of her grave, it may have been moved from the field boundary. The grid references given by the A.E.L.P are 854/ 855/ 856 771 but for the CSMR the middle northings reference has been used. (1).
