Full Description
Mine workings between Beacon Lodge Adit and the Engine Vein. A complex series of interconnecting workings with more than a dozen shafts working the main east-west fault plus the north-south cross-courses. The surface expression of this is hummocky ground with numerous shaft collapse depressions and shaft rim spoil mounds but with no open entrances or open works. Surveyed by MSC (Man Power Services Commission) team working with Manchester Museum and the National Trust in 1979 and more recently by the AELP (Alderley Edge Landscape Project). It is a continuation of the Engine Vein fault. Dated to the 18th -19th century (1).
