Full Description
Open Stopes and Adit Mine Workings, Old Alderley Quarry. Small stopes come to the surface in several places where a north-south mineralised fault has been worked on the east side of the rock outcrop bounding the quarry. Hummocky ground indicates possible shafts and a number of spoil mounds from short access adits driven into the fault. There is no evidence for the mineral worked but this was possibly cobalt or lead/copper. This fault and its workings appear to limit the expansion of the quarry and so presumably pre-date it or are atleast contemporary with it (1).
The workings correspond to the line of the Canyon Opencast (2).
