Monument record 1446/23/3 - Old Alderley Quarry adit

Please read our .

Summary

Small stopes come to the surface in several places where a north-south mineralised fault has been worked on the east side of the rock outcrop bounding the quarry. Hummocky ground indicates possible shafts and a number of spoil mounds from short access adits driven into the fault. There is no evidence for the mineral worked but this was possibly cobalt or lead/copper. This fault and its workings appear to limit the expansion of the quarry and so presumably pre-date it or are at least contemporary with it.
