Summary
Collapsed depressions, spoil rim mounds and spoil heaps indicate the presence of a number of shafts on a small plateau in-between Brynlow Dell and the Road.

Full Description
Car Shaft. A number of shafts on a small plateau between the edge of Brynlow Dell and the road. Indicated by collapsed depressions, spoil rim mounds and flat topped spoil heaps. The opencast workings may have been partially infilled by later spoil tipping. A small building is marked on the 1807 map adjacent to the road which may be linked to mining (1).
