Full Description
The 'Iron Gates'. A large block of conglomerate, 6 x 3 metres square which has slipped from the outcrop above forms a prominent feature west of the old sled route. There appears to be no reference to this being the 'Iron Gates' of the Wizard Legend, the information here being from A.Garner. The site may be that referred to as 'hollowed rock' by Roeder and Graves on their 1905 map. A piece of apparently modern parchment with runic inscription was found in 1991 and flower offerings are regularly made (1).
