Full Description
Pit Workings above Pillar Mine. Two or three small bisected workings approximately 0.5 to 1 metre in diameter, upon steps in baritic sandstone beds. Pit markings on uppermost side preserved despite weathering. Evidence of significant malachite and pyromorphite staining. The pit workings may have followed mineralised films along the bedding joints. Roeder recorded finding several stone hammers plus burnt gorse within residual infill of one (1).
