Full Description
Demolished pillbox at RAF Cranage. Part of defences of former World War II airfield RAF Cranage. One part of Scheduled Monument 34989 , which is divided into six areas.
The three remaining Pillboxes at RAF Cranage are of local design being hexagonal in shape and of brick and concrete construction. They have an internal ricochet wall and stepped gun loopholes in each face giving a 360 degree range of fire. It is most likely that the fourth, demolished Pillbox was of the same design. It is now a grass covered rubble mound about 12 metres in diameter (1).
