Assay Laboratory. The foundations of this small building lie immediately north of the tramway from Wood Mine to West Mine. Within it were found dozens of small ceramic stoppers, possibly for use with retorts, carboys, or as kiln supports. Probably 19th century but indicated as a disused building on the 1872 map (1).
