Full Description
Series of Hollow Ways, Haglane Road. A number of coalesing hollow tracks, running parallel to the route of Haglane Road (indicated on the 1775 map, possibly the enclosure map).A much earlier use of this route is suggested (1).
It is important to realise that the area through which these run had been built up in the 19th century when the Wood Mine was being worked. The ‘hollow-ways’ could therefore simply be routes down from the artificial upper level to the natural lower level. (2)
