A site visit to 79, Queensgate, Castle, observed a quantity of Roman pottery sherds, including stamped Samian ware, Black Burnished ware and local grey and sandy wares. These were mainly large, unabraided sherds in good condition, recovered form a deposit of dark cultivation soil with pebble inclusions at a depth of 750mm and were found during excavation of a pond to the rear of the property.
